| Hello, |
| Three more weeks |
 |
| Some of you signed up months ago, when tokodet.com was little more than a countdown. That countdown is starting to itch now: the door opens soon. High time for a first letter, straight from the shop floor, somewhere between the paint tins and the boxes. |
|
| What has happened so far |
| If you follow us on Facebook you have seen it go by: a few weeks ago the furniture arrived, and after that everything for the kitchen. Then we bombarded you with daily videos about tiles (sorry, we could not stop). And this week Pascal from Twopaint took care of the walls. Suddenly it is all taking shape. Wonderful. By the way, we are on Instagram now too, for those who prefer to follow along there. |
The room is getting its colour. | The tiles from all those videos. |
|
| Meanwhile Han and Bernadette are doing pretty much everything you can think of for a restaurant, and a bit more. Sorting out the internet, permits and certificates, sawing a small counter, painting a cupboard, shopping for everything from tempeh to tempranillo, and on top of that choosing the right lamps and the floor. Pieter is in the background building the app for reservations and working out which till system it is going to be. |
| And maybe the best part: how many people have simply turned up to help. Carrying things upstairs, thinking along, dropping by to see how it is going. Thank you, truly. |
Han and the little counter. It fits. | Bernadette and the cupboard. |
|
| Speaking of reservations: did you know you can already reach us? |
You can already book Toko Det has its own Spanish number: +34 828 626 476. Just leave your booking on it (press 1 in the menu), or message us on WhatsApp on the same number. Not keen on international call charges? On tokodet.com you still see the countdown, but you can already call us for free, straight from the website. Technology stops at nothing in 2026 (at Toko Det, anyway). All our links in one place: bio.tokodet.com.
To be honest: the first days will fill up quickly. If you come a little later in September, or in October, we are at least as happy to see you. There will be more time for a proper catch-up, too. |

| A corner for Han de Kapper |
| For some of you this may still be news: a corner of the restaurant is reserved for Han de Kapper, Han's hair salon. So Toko Det and the salon are moving in under one roof. No worries, Han will not be cutting hair over your dinner: it is a neatly closed-off corner of its own. And fully in style: an all-gold salon, just as it suits him. Haircut first and then dinner, or the other way round. Both work. |
|
| What has to wait a little longer |
| The menu and the opening hours. They are not there yet, and not because we are being secretive: we will share them once they are right. |
| In the next letter we will tell you how Toko Det came about, and who Han and Bernadette are: brother and sister, and Bernadette will be running the kitchen. That story deserves a letter of its own. |
| See you soon in Playa del Inglés, and thank you for reading along. |
